2014 Life in the Vineyard

2014 Life in the Vineyard

Even as the dense fog envelops Stag Hollow, Mark begins the first step of the vineyard cycle, pruning. The young Tempranillo is first, a seemingly easy job of snipping small stems to several buds. Yet there is always more to do: remove unwanted buds (snip), pick the best two of last year’s canes, with the best position, per plant. The rest are cut.

Today was a stellar day, especially after so many days with dense fog at 35 F, a very unusual weather pattern to continue so long.
